Meghan and Sean, August 21st …. Thursday Afternoon Weddings Rock!

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

It’s always a great surprise and kind of a bonus too (as weddings are generally not held mid-week) to get booked for a Thursday wedding. But when it is as fabulous as this one, it is truly awesome to be out shooting mid-week.

I knew Meghan and Sean’s wedding was going to be out of this world when I met Meghan and her Mum earlier this year. Standing just short of six feet and gorgeous beyond belief I was wondering if Meghan should actually be on Canada’s Next Top Model! When I saw Meghan in her wedding dress yesterday evening I was truly blown away….she looked like a Greek Goddess and I knew Sean would be speechless when he saw her.

Thursday evening found us out at the Brock House once again with the fabulous Marilyn Knipp officiating. After days of torrential rain we were lucky to have clear skies and a to die for sunset.

All the best to you both Meghan and Sean and have a wonderful time in Mexico. xox

My August 16th and 17th weddings were both shot on film, so I will be posting images as soon as I get the images back from the photolab.

Raechel and Kareem, July 15th

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

I first met Raechel and her Mum last October at the Brock House Wedding Show. Raechel loved my work and I loved Raechel’s style so I was thrilled when I came home that Sunday evening after the show, exhausted after talking to so many people, to find an email from Raechel saying she had decided to book me for her big day. I just met Kareem a couple of weeks ago as he was living in Toronto up until recently. These two are one of the sweetest, nicest couples I have ever had the pleasure of working with. And their friends and families are all wonderful too….it all adds up to make for a beautiful and memorable day.

Raechel and kareem’s wedding on Friday kicked off another 3 wedding weekend for me. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect as we arrived at Granville Island for some pre-ceremony pictures of Kareem and his groomsmen. These guys sure loved being infront of the camera and even little Caleb was working it for all he was worth…what a charmer! Then it was off to Kits for pictures with the girls, Raechel looked simply stunning in a dress from Something Blue.

Raechel and her parents arrived at our final destination, The Brock House, in style in a fabulous vintage car from A Stylish Arrival. Marilyn Knipp performed the ceremony with her usual vivacious style, and after some family pictures we headed down to the beach….the evening sunlight for the photo shoot was just phenomenal. As always the Brock House looked amazing for the reception. This day felt like a whirlwhind of activity, everything and everyone was so much fun…I can’t believe it went by so fast.

Congratulations again Raechel and Kareem! Have a fabulous honeymoon in St Lucia (lucky you!!) Wishing you both the best of everything in love and life….see you soon xox

Introducing Baby Teo - August 10th

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

I first met Teo’s Mum and Dad - Amy and Paul - 5 years ago when they commissioned me to photograph their 2004 wedding. After having done engagement photography, wedding photography and albums for them, then bumping into them at the photolab, I hadn’t heard from Amy and Paul in a while. So, of course I was delighted to get an email a few days ago from Amy letting me know she had a new baby boy and wanting to do a photo session. Teo is just 6 weeks old and absolutely adorable.

Congratulations Amy and Paul! xox

Melissa and Martin, August 9th - Rain or Shine

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

Melissa and Martin had planned their big day for what should have been one of the nicest days of the year, weather-wise, but waking up at 4.30am that morning to the sound of torrential rain, I wasn’t convinced we would be using any of our planned outdoor locations. I went back to sleep and woke several hours later to yet another cold and gloomy day looking like it had come straight from November. So, with a smile on my face, umbrellas in the car and a back-up plan I headed out to West Point Grey Presbytarian Church to meet up with Melissa and Martin for the ceremony. The weather was clearing a little and still undecided, it was sunny and raining when we came out of the church so we opted to go for our original plan of the beach. Talk about bizarre weather! Brilliant blue skies and gorgeous cloud formations greeted us. I was beyond thrilled that the weather cooperated for these two, especially as they were both so calm and just willing to go along with whatever we needed to do for the pictures. After the beach we headed downtown to Coal Harbour for more pics and then when the skies opened again we headed to the Pan Pacific for a delicious dinner and dancing.

Alicia Keats from DreamGroup Productions ensured the whole day ran smoothly and on schedule, Flower Factory were responsible for the gorgeous bouquets, boutonnieres and table arrangements, Melissa’s fabulous dress was from Chantilly Bridal and the Bridesmaids’ dresses came from Frocks.

Congratulations M & M….wishing you a fabulous European Honeymoon! See you when you get home. xox

Alisha and Aaron - “The Wedding” - August 2nd

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Alisha and Aaron booked me to photograph their wedding well over a year ago, and it has been a real pleasure getting to know them and have the opportunity to do 2 photo sessions with them. I think that most of my clients know that most of my photography “style” is really drawn on the inspiration of my clients…getting to know them, who they are and what they like. For Alisha and Aaron so much of this was about family and friends…they have a huge circle of family and friends they wanted included in the day. They are also so in tune with each other and so in love that nothing could have spoiled this day for them, especially the rain in the morning for a planned outdoor ceremony. And so, of course, the clouds broke up and the sun shone and Alisha and Aaron’s wedding went exactly as planned. We staged a first meeting where they could see each other for the first time…many tears were shed (including one or two from me). Then off to the fun stuff with the bridal party. The Hart House at Deer Lake was the fabulous venue and Marilyn Knipp officiated the beautiful ceremony. With all the formalities out of the way it was party party party for these two!

Alisha and Aaron it has been so much fun working with you. You both deserve all the happiness and love that life has to offer.

“I Do!” Wedding Photography” “hearts” you (and Rocky of course!) xox

Alisha and Aaron - Family Session

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Alisha and Aaron, accompanied by the adorable Rocky, had their engagement session on the May long weekend of this year. With their wedding all set for August 2nd, Alisha contacted me a couple of weeks ago to see if I would have time to do a separate family session with members of Aaron’s family traveling from all over North America. As usual I was delighted. So with people traveling to a wedding, the only date that worked was August 1st…one day before the wedding.

When I woke up that morning I was greeted with weather that looked like it belonged in November…grey skies, rain and it was cold too. But we were set to go, and armed with cameras and umbrellas I greeted the family members and set to work. Everyone was present from great grandparents to babies….what a super looking family! Luckily the rain held off for the most part, everyone smiled and Rocky matched the colour scheme to a tee! Alisha, who probably should have been just a little stressed out on the (rainy!) day before her wedding, was cool as a cucumber and gorgeous as ever.

Melissa and Jerry - July 26th - “Fun, Fabulous and Spontaneous”

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

“Fun, Fabulous and Spontaneous” as my ad goes….. and I think that totally sums it up for Melissa and Jerry with their unique style and awesome personalities. Everything about this wedding smacked of the extraordinairy from the very beginning …… Melissa’s mermaid dress, the entertainment, decor, locations, food and music.
Melissa and Jerry have spent serious time renovating an older home and garden and decided to use it to stage their wedding and reception. I was totally blown away to visit this location a couple of weeks before the wedding. This was no regular back-garden wedding, since their house is amazing and the garden simply to-die-for with simple lawn and mature trees falling away to rain-forest, ravine and lush ferns. Their eclectic style lead them to opt for a simple outdoor ceremony, cocktail reception and even a magician to keep guests entertained! I particularly loved the lime slice lined flower vases.

Extra thanks to Melissa’s Mum, Marlene, for letting use her beautiful home for the “getting ready” pics.

PS: Be sure to check my ad in Aislewalk 2009 as it will be featuring these two … the pics are just meant to go in a magazine.
